Kamupeda.fi offers open-access learning materials for teaching folk music. In addition to downloadable sheet music, the site features audio recordings, videos, background information, and pedagogical tips related to the tunes.
The materials are especially designed for basic education in the arts for children and youth, but they can be adapted for use in various learning environments and with learners of all ages.
This website was created in response to a growing need for accessible folk music pedagogy materials, with the goal of supporting shared learning and collective benefit. There has been a notable lack of teaching resources specifically designed for children and young people.
Kamupeda also aims to make the phenomena related to folk music more understandable, opening the genre to those less familiar with it. The site explores the styles, ideals, and pedagogical approaches connected to folk music and its teaching.
The structure of the website and its first materials were developed collaboratively by the folk music faculty of Käpylä Music Institute in Helsinki between 2022 and 2024. The project has been funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland.
